    De outlook werd vorige jaren ook nooit echt onderbouwd. Er staat altijd: we expect en dan een omzet bedrag en een verwachte winst per aandeel. Dat komt omdat de omzet uit toekomstige legacy kwam en dus niet strategisch was. Strategische initiatieven werden betaald vanuit legacy omzet (pnd etc). Vandaar ook frustratie over beloning bij sommigen hier. De top wordt beloond op basis van het wel of niet behalen van strategische doelen en de aandeelhouder bestraft voor de resultaten van de dag.

    Ik denk trouwens dat onze meningen elkaar niet uitsluiten. Consumer en Telematics met focus op Europa en mogelijk grotere moves. Zou me niet verbazen.

    Het blijft whishfull thinking met een enorm grote "we hopen maar dit of dat"-factor. Nergens nemen private investors zulke grote risico's als bij TT.
    Een bitcoin kopen geeft meer zekerheid. Mits je hem maar goed "opbergt"...

    THE LASER MAPS BEHIND CADILLAC’S SUPERB SELF-DRIVING SKILLS

    “Maps are the most accurate sensor on the car,” says David Craig, GM’s mapping chief. “We know exactly where these lines are on planet Earth.” Miles ahead of time, the car knows what’s coming. That’s helpful for navigating sharp curves (the car will slow down to stay centered in its lane), but the real point is that it lets the car know in advance when it can, and cannot, do the driving—leaving plenty of time to transfer control back to the human.

    Once they had all the Ushr data, Craig’s team went through the maps, deciding where Super Cruise would be allowed to kick in. That meant eliminating spots that demand something other than staying between the lane lines. Put the car in an exit lane, the approach to a toll plaza, or anywhere without a perfectly clear path, and Super Cruise will disengage, or not turn on to begin with. I do wish it would offer to resume control once the driver is back on a normal stretch of road, but the thinking is clear: This is how Cadillac can ensure that its customers won’t put their system in a situation it can’t handle.Which includes disruptions like roadwork: Ushr and Cadillac keep tabs on road work throughout the country. When a construction project starts somewhere, they’ll temporarily disable Super Cruise for the relevant stretch of highway. When the work is done, an over the air software update will turn it back on.

    What’s neat about this system, whether or not you’ve got $88,295 to drop for the CT6 I tested, is that it reveals how autonomous driving technology will roll out to everybody. Cadillac’s cartographic restriction is what others call geofencing. It’s how operators of fully autonomous cars (the look ma, no steering wheel kind) will limit the challenges those vehicles have to face on their own.

    For example, Waymo just got approval to operate as a transportation network company in Arizona, where it plans to launch a self-driving fleet in the next few months. Uber, GM, and others won’t be far behind. They will all start by containing their services to defined areas, which the company has painstakingly mapped, and which will likely exclude things like complex intersections. As the cars get better, the operators will expand those territories.

    Same goes for Super Cruise. It may never tackle anything so terrifying as an exit lane, but the Cadillac team plans to extend its reach beyond this continent. They’ve already mapped China.

    Goed ook daar heeft het bestuur dus misgeslagen. Al jaren "Voorop" lopen met HD-maps maar wel de eerste productie-auto missen waar de HD-map gaat gebruikt worden.

    @justin, je hebt gelijk denk ik. er gaat natuurlijk van alles gebeuren. dat kan niet anders. >4000 fte, slimme mensen. grote oem contracten zijn belangrijk. de markt is er. links om of rechts om je hebt altijd goede navigatie nodig in je auto. goede digitale maps zijn nodig en die hebben ze. daarom zit ik long tom2

    GM is dus niet de US klant, die kan je doorstrepen. GM gebruikt HD-maps van Ushr. Ford maps van Civil maps. Dus Chrysler is wellicht de US klant voor HD Maps. Tenzij men road dna als los product kan aanbieden indien dat compatibel is met ander HD maps.

    Heeft ook al de complete snelwegen van Amerika en Canada in HD-maps voltooid. En nog wat verschillende projecten die lopen.

    Mooi bedrijfje om te kopen als je het mij vraagt. Ik ben echter bang dat Goddijn en consorten er nog nooit van gehoord hebben.

    Of toch GM, maar dan nog alleen voor de traditionele spullen en (nog) niet de HD-maps. Kan me voorstellen dat ze niet ineens alles bij TT afnemen.

    It is not just about the giants. A new entrant in this space with a background in mapping for utility companies is GeoDigital and they have started making a lot of noise in the market for HD maps for automated driving. With over 200,000 miles of freeways across US and Canada mapped, the company is actively involved in setting up its automotive business and is in talks with a variety of OEMs and tier 1 suppliers. Knowing a few folks from the team, I know how busy they are right now from a variety of different angles :)

    Toen had Ushr al 200.000lm in kaart gebracht. Ushr is spin off van Geodigital
