    Banken Scandinavië werken samen aan betaalsnelweg

    Banken in Zweden, Noorwegen, Finland en Denemarken werken aan een technologische toepassing om internationale overschrijvingen drastisch te versnellen.

    Hiermee verwachten de banken onder meer de concurrentieslag met betaaldiensten van techgiganten als Apple en Samsung in hun voordeel te beslissen.

    De nieuwe betaalinfrastructuur zal naar verwachting volgend jaar in gebruik worden genomen. Doel is onder meer om grensoverschrijdende transacties binnen enkele seconden af te wikkelen.

    Het project genaamd P27 borduurt voort op het eerdere succes van smartphonetoepassingen als Swish in Zweden en het Noorse Vipps. Anders dan die diensten gaat het bij P27 ook om internationale transacties. De vier landen hebben allemaal een andere valuta.

    De Scandinaviërs zeggen ook graag te helpen bij het vormgeven van een Europees verrekeningssysteem.

    World's First Bank-Backed Crypto (by XRP) Exchange Finally Opens to the Public

    And while the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies seems large by absolute standards, it's tiny compared to the rest of the global economy. Daily trading of cryptocurrencies is between $5 billion and $6 billion right now. Daily trading on the foreign exchange markets is closer to $5 trillion.

    The world's first bank-backed cryptocurrency exchange is now open to the public after months of delays.

    Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings formally launched its in-house crypto trading platform, dubbed VCTRADE, last month. Yet, as reported by CoinDesk at the time, the trading service was only available for a group of selected users who pre-registered with the platform last October.

    In an announcement released on Tuesday, SBI Holdings said the service is now fully open for users aged from 20–70 who reside in Japan. However, a registration service for corporate customers has not yet been made available.

    At its June launch, VCTRADE announced it will initially support trading of Japanese yen against XRP, the native token of the Ripple protocol – a move that aligns with the institution's wider support for XRP in cross-border blockchain settlement.

    Subsequently, the platform added yen-based trading pairs for bitcoin cash and bitcoin on June 8 and 15, respectively.

    Today's public launch comes nearly two years after SBI Holdings first announced it would build the exchange in October 2016, with the platform receiving an operating license from Japan's financial watchdog, the Financial Services Agency, late last year.

    Its debut was delayed for months, however, as the firm worked to raise levels of internal security following a massive $533 million hack at the country's Coincheck exchange in January.

    ING steekt miljoenen in TransferMate

    AMSTERDAM (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - ING investeert 21 miljoen euro in TransferMate. Het financiële concern krijgt daarmee een ,,klein'' minderheidsbelang in de Ierse dienstverlener op het gebied van grensoverschrijdende betalingen. De twee partijen willen ook met elkaar gaan samenwerken.

    Het is de bedoeling dat de diensten van TransferMate straks ook voor klanten van ING beschikbaar komen. De investeringsdeal kan naar verwachting in het derde kwartaal worden afgerond.

    TransferMate bestaat sinds 2010 en heeft kantoren in zowel Europa als Noord-Amerika, Azië en het Pacifisch gebied. Volgens het bedrijf was er eind 2017 door zijn systemen al voor meer dan 10 miljard dollar aan transacties verwerkt.

    In het meest recente `Q2 2018 XRP Markets Report` (https://ripple.com/insights/q2-2018-xrp-markets-report) wordt o.m. de teruggevallen koers van XRP belicht.
    De argumentatie van Ripple Inc. komt bij mij redelijk plausibel over.
    Het gegeven dat `retail investors` door ontwikkelingen als in het 1e halfjaar 2018 worden uitgeschud is strikt genomen in lijn met hetgeen Ripple altijd staande heeft gehouden betreffende hun XRP token:
    “We`re committed to the utmost, but do not YET view our XRP token as a safe and sure investment.”

    Echter, wanneer over 5 à 10 jaar alle XRP is uitgezet bij Blackrock, State Street, Vanguard,Wallstreet, pensioen- en investeringsfondsen van allerlei pluimage, wellicht ook overheden en, last but not least, de banken en men beteuterd dan wel dolgelukkig aankijkt tegen een koers van $ 10 of $ 100 or whatever, dan zal de vergelijking met een Google, een Facebook, an Apple of een Microsoft geen betoog meer behoeven.

    Die $ 73 mln XRP die Ripple heeft verkocht in Q2 2018 is inderdaad niet indrukwekkend t.o.v. de 3 mrd XRP`s die uit de escrow zijn gelicht, laat staan t.o.v. de cryptomarkt turnover als geheel. Alle genoemde potentiële institutionele investeerders zitten elkaar aan te kijken heb ik zo het vermoeden, totdat op een `bepaald ogenblik` overall het besef indaalt van welk een slim, degelijk en deugdelijk concept Ripple/XRP feitelijk vertegenwoordigt. Er kan zomaar een omslagpunt komen waar men over elkaar heen valt en in de rij gaat staan voor de maandelijkse escrow release.

    Dit i.t.t. Bitcoin, dat door allerlei manipulaties m.i. steeds meer een `blockchain aan het been` begint te vormen voor een gezonde doorontwikkeling van m.n. de altcoinmarkt. BTC dominance nadert alweer de 50%. Ridicuul.
    Crypto in it`s infancy, inderdaad. Alleen al die evt. EFT wordt één groot shortersdrama met heel veel verliezers en weinig winnaars. Gezien de huidige `whale dominance` van zowat 100% word ik er niet vrolijk van. Dit kan tevens een nog verdere negatieve impact hebben op de altcoinmarkt wanneer deze zou worden meegesleurd in een onverhoopte val van Bitcoin tot permanente substantieel lagere koersniveau`s.

    Dat XRP een rol zou gaan spelen bij crypto flashtrading (zie jouw links) vind ik op zijn beurt weer tamelijk discutabel.
    In dat geval komen retail investors helemaal buitenspel te staan (althans in termen van trading) voor heel veel cryptovaluta en tokens waarop Wallstreet het begerig oog meent te moeten laten vallen.

    Vraag @ Frederik C.: Heb jij enig idee hoe XRP II LLC (zie onderaan Q2 Markets Report) zich verhoudt tot Ripple Labs Inc. cq `ons` XRP token? Is dat soms het vehikel dat wholesale XRP deals maakt met institutionele danwel grotere beleggers en tegen welke prijzen…?

    Het is afzien de laatste 6 maanden, weer bijna terug op 20 cent. Niet gedacht dat het nog zo laag zou komen. Ik blijf rustig bijkopen komende tijd.
