    Als we die man mogen geloven gaat dit wel iets worden die werkt? Als ze resultaten hebben van die 10 patienten en 8 die terug stabiel worden hoelang duurt dit dan tot dit opgepikt zal worden?

(CYDY), (“CytoDyn” or the “Company"), a late-stage biotechnology company developing leronlimab (PRO 140), a CCR5 antagonist with the potential for multiple therapeutic indications, announced today results of immunological metrics from blood samples of seven severely ill COVID-19 patients after seven days of treatment with leronlimab.

    Bruce Patterson, M.D., Chief Executive Officer and founder of IncellDx, a diagnostic partner and advisor to CytoDyn, stated, “The Day-7 results from these patients demonstrates even more dramatic immune restoration especially in the CD8 T-lymphocyte population, the major immune cell responsible for eliminating virally infected cells. In addition, there is a further dramatic reduction in the critical cytokine storm cytokines IL-6, TNF-alpha. Collectively, these results are correlating with patients’ recovery. Some patients have been removed from ventilators, including one patient who was taken off of a heart/lung bypass machine. Critically ill patients are experiencing the benefit of extubating within 7 days of treatment with leronlimab.”

    Following recent clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Company is enrolling patients in two clinical trials, a Phase 2 trial for mild-to-moderate COVID-19 patients, and a Phase 2b/3 trial for severe and critically ill COVID-19 patients. The Phase 2b/3 clinical trial is for 390 patients, double blinded with 2:1 ratio (active drug to placebo ratio). Patients enrolled in this trial are expected to be administered leronlimab for two weeks with the primary endpoint being the mortality rate at 28 days and a secondary endpoint of mortality rate at 14 days. The Company will perform an interim analysis on the data from 50 patients.

    Severely Ill COVID-19 Patient at Leading Southern California Medical Center Extubated Three Days After Treatment with CytoDyn’s Leronlimab; Two Moderate COVID-19 Patients Removed from External Oxygen Following One Day of Treatment with Leronlimab and Discharged from Hospital

    VANCOUVER, Washington, April 09, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CytoDyn Inc. (OTC.QB: CYDY), (“CytoDyn” or the “Company"), a late-stage biotechnology company developing leronlimab (PRO 140), a CCR5 antagonist with the potential for multiple therapeutic indications, announced today a patient with severe COVID-19 under the care of a leading medical center in Southern California exhibited clinical improvement after treatment with the Company’s investigational new drug, leronlimab. The patient was intubated and in critical condition in the ICU, and had received an IL-6 blocking agent four days earlier without apparent benefit. Concomitantly, the patient also received either an antiretroviral agent or placebo as part of an unrelated clinical trial. With no clinical improvement observed over the ensuing four days, the patient then received leronlimab under an emergency IND granted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Within twenty-four hours of receiving an injection of leronlimab, the patient showed significant clinical improvement and was removed from external ventilation three days later. This outcome is consistent with that observed in severely ill COVID-19 patients treated with leronlimab at a leading medical center in New York City.

    Additionally, two patients at the same Southern California medical center with moderate COVID-19, were treated with leronlimab under an EIND and subsequently revealed clinical improvement. These patients were removed from external oxygen support one day following leronlimab treatment, and subsequently discharged from the hospital. Based on these results, an additional four patients with moderate COVID-19 have been administered leronlimab and results are pending.

    The FDA recently cleared the Company to initiate a Phase 2b/3 clinical trial for severe and critically ill COVID-19 patients for which enrollment is now underway. The Phase 2b/3 trial for severe and critically ill COVID-19 patients is for 390 patients, double blinded with 2:1 ratio (active drug to placebo ratio).     Franse farmaceut doneert 100 miljoen doses chloroquine

    PARIJS - De Franse farmaceut Sanofi doneert 100 miljoen doses van een geneesmiddel dat mogelijk werkt tegen het nieuwe coronavirus. Hydroxychloroquine, zoals het medicijn heet, wordt normaal voorgeschreven voor de behandeling van ziektes als reuma en malaria. Sanofi waarschuwt tegelijkertijd dat het nog niet zeker is of het middel werkzaam en veilig is voor de behandeling van Covid-19.

    De vraag naar chloroquine, zoals het middel kortweg wordt genoemd, is de afgelopen maanden in rap tempo gestegen, na eerste signalen dat het helpt tegen het nieuwe coronavirus. Onder andere het Nederlandse Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM) kocht uit voorzorg het medicijn in.

    Sanofi laat nu weten de productie voor chloroquine met 50 procent te hebben opgevoerd. De acht fabrieken die het middel produceren, moeten komende maanden hun capaciteit nog verder opvoeren. De eerste toegezegde donaties worden verdeeld over vijftig landen. Als eerste helpt het concern landen waar chloroquine al voor andere aandoeningen is goedgekeurd, landen zonder eigen leveranciers van het middel en landen waar aanzienlijke delen van de bevolking in armoede leven.

    Het werkt voor geen meter, dat weten we ondertussen wel. En als Filgotinib is goedgekeurd is het ook niet meer nodig voor reuma.

    En die sukkels van het RIVM hebben het verkeerde medicijn gekocht...

    Maar nu is de wereld in ieder geval goed voorbereid op de volgende malaria uitbraak...

    Medisch Nederland, heerlijk onwetend over Leronlimab, voelt zich ver superieur boven het gewone volk, dat er echt niets van begrijpt.

    5808 voorspelde doden in de huidige golf, vooral die laatste acht zijn belangrijk. De piek in bezette IC bedden wordt voorzien ergens eind april (huidige afname zit helaas niet in de modellen, dus zal wel niet kloppen), vooral thuis blijven en vooral niet de strenge regels versoepelen, want anders hebben we wel 10000 doden in de tweede golf ergens in de tweede helft van het jaar. We moeten totdat we een vaccin hebben, ergens in 2021, vooral thuis blijven.. Heerlijk, hoe machtig en belangrijk ze zich voelen. Iedere dag een podium, dat voelt toch wel heel goed…

    Bestuurders, ambtenaren en wetshandhavers sluiten zich graag aan bij Medisch Nederland. Hoe houden we de meute in bedwang (vooral thuis). Wegen afsluiten, stranden afsluiten, meerdere mensen bij elkaar,.. Prachtig, bekeuren, de inkomsten stromen binnen. We zullen die mensen onder controle houden/krijgen. Wacht, we gooien er nog wat apps tegen aan. Google en Apple willen het wel gratis regelen. Helpt ook heel goed (en die bange drommels trappen er gewoon in, de gezondheid staat immers op het spel!)…

    We moeten er maar aanwennen, minstens 1,5 meter afstand houden tot iedere aardbewoner. Het laatste oerwoud ook maar kappen, we zijn met te velen, ook de Sahara zal nodig zijn, gewoon maar een extra flesje water mee…

    Economie, wat is dat? Het virus moet bestreden worden! Jammer restauranthouders, winkeliers, kunstenaars, uitbaters, enz. rustig maar, het is allemaal in jullie belang. Vraag maar een uitkering aan, en vooral geen domme dingen doen (later), gewoon wachten tot ergens in 2021.

    Heerlijk dat je niet weet van Leronlimab (of nog erger, je wilt het niet weten…).

    Met Medisch Nederland worden de BOBO’s van RIVM, Erasmus, Radboud, UMCG, etc. bedoelt, nadrukkelijk niet de afdelingsdokters en verplegend personeel aan de bedden. Die laatste arme drommels werken zich een slag in de ronde… En het meest begaan voel ik me met de mensen in de zorg buiten de ziekenhuizen, die te weinig PPE hebben. Een politieke wanprestatie!

    Remdesivir en sarilumab worden genoemd in een artikel van UCLA over trials van dr. Yang van 2 april jl. Zoeken naar Leronlimab in de zoekfunctie van de site geeft vooralsnog geen resultaat.

    Typisch overigens dat de vrouw in kwestie veel sliep gedurende de ziekte. Veel patienten die aan de beademing moeten zijn veelal kortademig/benauwd en doen dus geen oog dicht.

    Het lijkt erop dat Gilead's definitie van "severe" is: mensen opgenomen in het ziekenhuis. In de groep van 53 mensen zijn er 19 die niet aan een beademingsmachine zijn gehangen. Van die 19 tellen er 17 mee als zijnde genezen.

    CytoDyn's definitie van severe is beademingsmachine, moderate is oxygen, mild is de rest. Gewoon "rustig" afwachten tot verdere resultaten worden gepubliceerd.

    Coronavirus could attack immune system like HIV by targeting protective cells, warn scientists

    The coronavirus that causes Covid-19 could kill the powerful immune cells that are supposed to kill the virus instead, scientists have warned.

    The surprise discovery, made by a team of researchers from Shanghai and New York, coincided with frontline doctors’ observation that Covid-19 could attack the human immune system and cause damages similar to that found in HIV patients.

    Lu Lu, from Fudan University in Shanghai, and Jang Shibo, from the New York Blood Centre, joined the living virus, which is officially known as Sars-CoV-2, on laboratory-grown T lymphocyte cell lines.

    T lymphocytes, also known as T cells, play a central role in identifying and eliminating alien invaders in the body.

    They do this by capturing a cell infected by a virus, bore a hole in its membrane and inject toxic chemicals into the cell. These chemicals then kill both the virus and infected cell and tear them to pieces.

    Heel veel is er nog onbekend. Maar onderstaand stukje is cruciaal!!

    But there was one major difference between Sars-CoV-2 and HIV, according to the new study.

    HIV can replicate in the T cells and turn them into factories to generate more copies to infect other cells.

    But Lu and Jiang did not observe any growth of the coronavirus after it entered the T-cells, suggesting that the virus and T-cells might end up dying together.
