   ArcelorMittal submitted new design HQ following criticism from mayor
   
   Luxtimes reported that ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, is submitting a new design for its global headquarters in Kirchberg after the mayor of Luxembourg City criticised the building of being too imposing. The building is expected to be ready next year but construction works are yet to begin on a 7,273 square metre site near the Philharmonie.

   Trump to sign order to buy American steel, iron

   Pres. Trump today will sign an executive order designed to boost the amount of American steel and iron used in infrastructure projects.
   White House trade adviser Peter Navarro says the order directs agency heads to "encourage recipients of new federal financial assistance to use, to the greatest extent practicable, iron and aluminum as well as, steel, cement, and other manufactured products produced in the United States," but the measure does not include enforcement mechanisms or specific purchasing targets.

   Bij Arcelor kan je beter nooit n sterke stijging verwachten. T komt (bijna) nooit uit. En 9 van de 10 keer als we een keer stijgen is het aan de eind van de middag weer verdwenen.

   The European Commission said on Friday that the provisionary regulations introduced as a response to tariffs on imported steel products in the United States would become permanent tomorrow. The definitive safeguards are introduced after temporary curbs lasted since July 19.
   
   The European Union's executive body said protectionist barriers in the US are "seriously threatening" domestic producers, "who are still in a fragile position due to persistent overcapacity in the global steel market and an unparalleled number of unfair trade practices by certain trading partners." Commissioners claimed the move is compliant with the rules of the World Trade Organization.
   
   Above the quotas on incoming 26 categories of items, the 28-member bloc charges a duty of 25%. The limits "will be increased progressively" and the system was tweaked to benefit main suppliers based on historical volumes, according to the announcement. The tariffs were rolled out for three years.
