Morgan Stanley reportedly believes semiconductor demand may have been overestimated and that foundry services are no longer in short supply, with order cuts at TSMC and Powerchip expected as early as 4Q, media report.
MS reportedly says end-demand for a number of consumer products is slowing: smartphones, TVs, PCs, which will hurt semiconductors ,and overbooking for PMICs and MCUs will evaporate when production in Malaysia (hit by Covid) returns to normal (Dec)
MS was the first big house to sound the alarm on the semiconductor industry, media say, with a report earlier that DRAM prices had peaked. Spot DRAM prices have fallen since the report, but contract prices (80% of the market) have increased.
Susquehanna reportedly says the beat-and-raise cycle among chip equipment makers Applied Materials, Advanced Energy and Lam Research is over, as estimates already reflect a strong 2022, while KLA will continue to gain from advanced packaging equip orders
Dus naar verwachting zullen TSMC en Power Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. de bestellingen al in het vierde kwartaal van dit jaar verminderen.
