   Germany, Slovenia want to speed up supply of tanks to Ukraine

   German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob discussed the issue of providing Ukraine with heavy weapons during negotiations in Berlin.
   
   "We discussed the issue of the joint transfer of weapons to Ukraine... We are considering various options for resolving the situation," Golob said at a press conference after the negotiations, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
   
   He recalled that Slovenia had already sent a batch of heavy weapons to Ukraine but the further process was "somewhat delayed", partly due to the change of government in the country. The Prime Minister expects the process to speed up.
   
   Scholz, for his part, also expressed his belief that the countries "will achieve rapid progress together." The Chancellor pointed out the readiness of partners to comprehensively support Ukraine – politically, economically, humanitarianly, militarily, as well as with the help of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
   
   As reported, Slovenia sent 35 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine in June.
   
   Slovenia planned to transfer 30 T-72 tanks to Ukraine, receiving new equipment from Germany as part of the so-called circular deliveries. However, Berlin offered only 15 Leopard-2A4 tanks. Negotiations have been going on for over two months.

   Russia deploys recruitment points for war with Ukraine

   To recruit more citizens for its war with Ukraine, Russia uses private military companies and sets up the so-called “patriotic battalions.”
   
   That’s according to Vadym Skibitskyi, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
   
   "Today, the Russian Federation uses various methods of mercenarism and recruitment. Recently, they began to really actively involve a private military company, the notorious Wagner, or Liga, and deployed recruitment points throughout Russia. They launched such a new mechanism as setting up the so-called patriotic ethnic battalions – across the whole country, including Kostroma and Orenburg, where these rifle battalions are formed before being sent to our territory. So their resources are being depleted and the understanding comes that sooner or later, mobilization will have to be announced, in order to maintain the pace of the offensive that the Russian Federation now seeks to keep up," Skibitskyi said.
   
   According to the intelligence official, now, despite the efforts on the part of Russian authorities to cover up their casualties in the war with Ukraine, such reports are spreading as the number of KIAs and WIAs returning to Russia is increasing.
   
   In addition, Russia is seeing a shortage of military specialists in various fields, such as mechanics, gunners, and drivers, while the quality of the newly-formed units remains low.
   
   Also, the high pay promised by commanders is not a solid recruitment driver anymore, the official added, noting that in many cases, the soldiers never receive the money vowed.
   
   “Thus, the fact that it’s an actual war and you can die there is gradually coming upon Russian servicemen," said Skibitskyi.
   
   He also partially confirmed the reports that inmates are being recruited into the Wagner PMC from penitentiary facilities. "First of all, it is confirmed that recruitment into the Russian army units is taking place in all regions and in all possible places, including prisons. But it should be noted that this is done for a reason: newly-formed units are in many cases deployed in the hottest spots, and it has already been calculated by the Russian command that most of them will be killed there. And accordingly, the government, and even more so the Russian defense ministry, won’t be held accountable for their deaths," Skibitskyi said.
   
   Also, according to the intelligence spokesman, no compensation will be paid for such mercenaries. That is, they are set to become pure cannon fodder, utilized to keep the war going.

   Washington stort nieuwe schijf van 1,7 miljard dollar economische steun aan Kiev
   De Verenigde Staten gaan een nieuwe schijf economische hulp storten aan Oekraïne voor een bedrag van 1,7 miljard dollar. Dat maakte de Amerikaanse minister van Financiën, Janet Yellen, vandaag bekend.
   
   De nieuwe schijf wordt aan de Oekraïense regering overgemaakt via de Wereldbank. Ze maakt deel uit van de 7,5 miljard dollar die de Verenigde Staten in mei aan Kiev hadden beloofd. Sinds het begin van het conflict hebben de Verenigde Staten nu al 4 miljard dollar economische steun aan Oekraïne gestort.
   
   Het begrotingstekort van Oekraïne neemt ondertussen toe met 5 miljard dollar per maand. De inkomsten van het land smelten weg en het heeft evenmin toegang tot de buitenlandse markten voor financiering. Internationale donoren schoten Oekraïne daarom te hulp.
   
   Naast de Verenigde Staten beloofden de G7, de groep van zeven economische grootmachten, en de Europese Unie om 29,6 miljard dollar aan Kiev over te maken.

   Separatisten in Oost-Oekraïne heffen moratorium op doodstraf op
   In het oosten van Oekraïne hebben de pro-Russische separatisten in de regio Donetsk het moratorium op de doodstraf opgeheven. De leider van de separatisten, Denis Pushilin, ondertekende daartoe dinsdag een decreet, meldt het Russische staatspersbureau Tass.
   
   Afgelopen maand veroordeelden de separatisten nog drie buitenlanders ter dood die als huurlingen met het Oekraïense leger meestreden. Het gaat om twee Britten en een Marokkaan. Het trio wacht momenteel op een beslissing in de beroepsprocedure. Volgens de separatisten zullen de vonnissen deze maand worden uitgesproken. Indien de beslissing in eerste aanleg niet wordt vernietigd of de beklaagden niet worden uitgewisseld, riskeren ze een executie.

    Voor het bovenstaande moeten we Poetin gewoon dankbaar zijn.
    We moeten m.i. echt niet meer besteden aan defensie-uitgaven. Als we even de Oekraïne flink steunen moet Rusland zijn hele leger opnieuw opbouwen.     Ook de economische schade van lockdowns is enorm, De helft van de inflatie komt hierdoor. De andere helft van de energie, maar daar is de oorzaak ook een gedeelte verloren productie net door de verminderde vooruitzichten van die lockdowns. Vrijwillig thuis werken of een zoom meting werken veel beter met quarantaine voor diegenen die symptomen vertonen.
    Hoe dan ook zal de inflatie de consumptie van die fossiele brandstoffen doen dalen en we zullen dan ook de prijs om niet aan Poetin toe te geven, moeten opbrengen.
