   (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Daimler Truck is van plan om op 10 december te debuteren op de beurs van Frankfurt. Dit maakte Daimler Truck donderdag tijdens een beleggersdag bekend.
   
   CEO Martin Daum sprak de ambitie uit om de prestaties over de brede linie te verbeteren. Daarbij wordt gestreefd naar dubbelcijferige marges vanaf 2025.
   
   Het rendement op de omzet wordt voor 2021 geraamd op 6 tot 8 procent, ondanks het tekort aan halfgeleiders. Voor 2022 streeft Daimler Truck naar een verder verbetering van de winstgevendheid.
   
   Een robuuste balans, een sterke kredietwaardigheid en strikte discipline op het gebied van investeringen en R&D helpen de kasstroom volgens Daum.
   
   De producent van vrachtwagens en bussen is van plan om een pay out ratio voor het dividend te hanteren van 40 procent.
   
   Daimler Truck verwacht in het eerste kwartaal van 2020 opgenomen te worden in de DAX, de hoofdindex van de beurs van Frankfurt.
   
   Begin 2021 kondigde Daimler het plan aan om zijn meerderheidsbelang in Daimler Truck af te splitsen via de beurs.

   Now, Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses can be optionally equipped with a 360 degree or 270 degree camera system. In both cases the objective is identical to achieve the best possible all-around visibility for maximum safety, because pedestrians and cyclists can be perceived even when they are not in the driver’s direct field of vision or can’t be seen in the outside mirrors. This means increased support for drivers in their highly responsible jobs and protection for more vulnerable road users New to vehicles from Daimler Buses are the optional 360-degree camera system for Mercedes-Benz and Setra solo buses in touring, inter-city and regular service operations and a 270-degree system in the Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated bus. On the solo vehicle four cameras give an all-around view of the surrounding area (360 degrees), while on the articulated bus, due to the different articulation angles of the front and rear sections, three cameras give a lateral overview to the left and right of the rear section and to the rear (270 degrees).
   
   Depending on the model, the front camera is mounted either below or above the windscreen, while both side cameras are located above the side windows. Just like the present reversing camera, the rear camera is mounted in the vicinity of the rear window. Thanks to this system pedestrians, cyclists and obstacles can also be observed in areas which would otherwise not be visible to the driver. Thus the system increases road safety as a possible collision can be detected and accidents prevented. As the vehicle pulls away, the camera system is automatically activated up to a speed of 35 km/h. It is also active at higher speeds when the turn signal indicator is actuated. As speed is reduced, the system also switches on automatically from 32 km/h. On a ten-inch monitor with a divided screen, the driver sees the bus from a bird’s eye perspective. A second image on the monitor is dependent on the driving situation: depending on which turn signal indicator is activated or the engaged reversing gear, it changes automatically to the appropriate side for example. A total of five views are available. Also drivers can switch the images manually when required. A corresponding menu is available for this on the screen. The driver can also use this to manually switch the monitor on or off.
   
   Markings to indicate the front and rear edge of the bus as well as a stylised driving path facilitate orientation. The images provide a field of vision up to a distance of five to six metres which ensures that the neighbouring lane is also covered.
   
   The new camera systems are expected to be available on request from the first quarter of 2022 for numerous buses: for the entire range of Mercedes-Benz low-floor Citaro including the eCitaro and Citaro Ü, for the new Mercedes-Benz Intouro inter-city bus and the high-deck Tourismo, the new Tourrider for North America and the Setra TopClass S 531 DT double-decker bus.

   Daimler Truck & TotalEnergies to Develop Hydrogen Ecosystem

   Daimler Truck AG and TotalEnergies today have signed an agreement on their joint commitment to the de-carbonization of the road freight in the European Union. The partners will collaborate in the development of ecosystems for heavy-duty trucks running on hydrogen, with the intent to demonstrate the attractiveness and effectiveness of trucking powered by clean hydrogen and the ambition to play a lead role in kickstarting the rollout of hydrogen infrastructure for transportation.
   
   The collaboration includes hydrogen sourcing and logistics, dispensing of hydrogen in service stations, development of hydrogen-based trucks, establishment of a customer base as well as other areas. In particular, TotalEnergies has the ambition by 2030 to operate directly or indirectly up to 150 hydrogen refuelling stations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and France. As part of the collaboration, Daimler Truck is also to supply hydrogen-powered fuel-cell trucks to its customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and France by 2025. The truck manufacturer will support its customers to ensure easy operability and highly competitive uptime.
   
   In order to develop these projects and to establish hydrogen-based transportation as a viable option, both companies want to jointly investigate the means of reducing the Total Cost of Ownership of hydrogen truck operations, in line with their common approach to work together with authorities on the regulatory framework in the European Union. Daimler Truck and TotalEnergies are both members of the H2Accelerate consortium. The two companies remain fully committed to working with the consortium, a key vehicle to support the rollout of hydrogen-powered transport in Europe in the coming decade.

   Daimler Spins off Daimler Truck Business

   Due to the split of Daimler into two independent companies on 1 December, Daimler Truck transferred the first batch of historical Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles and parts of its truck and bus archive to the location in Wörth at the end of November. For this purpose a convoy of low-loaders and historical trucks and buses travelled from the Stuttgart area to the Application Information Centre of the Mercedes-Benz truck plant in Wörth am Rhein. The historical trucks included a Mercedes-Benz LP 333 from 1960 (known as a “millipede” due to its two steerable front axles) and a Mercedes-Benz LP 608 which was the first truck produced at the recently opened Wörth plant in 1965. In future, Daimler Truck will mainly house its collection of historical exhibits near its truck and bus locations. Additional archival material and exhibits will be relocated in the weeks ahead.
   
   Daimler Truck’s collection encompasses around 130 vehicles, of which about 30 were previously located in Stuttgart and the surrounding area. This collection also includes powertrains, parts and accessories from the company’s 125-year truck history. The archives of Daimler Truck were previously distributed on more than 160 square metres of storage space. The documents filled more than 2,000 metres of shelves on several levels. The archival material includes 2,600 rolls of film and 600 magnetic tapes that contain over 1,000 hours of historical moving images.
   
   Until now, the classic vehicles and the archive of Daimler AG have been centrally managed in Stuttgart. After the corporate split, the Group analogue archive for overarching, company-wide topics prior to the separation will remain in Stuttgart along with the archive for cars and vans. The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim will continue to be the main publicly accessible location for the shared company history including trucks and buses.
   
   Until now, the truck and bus exhibits have been housed at four main locations: the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Untertürkheim, the truck plant in Wörth, and two warehouses near Wörth and Stuttgart. Trucks and buses are also located at various other company facilities and as exhibition loans in a number of international museums.

   Daimler Buses Sells Minibus Plant in Dortmund to AEQUITA

   In the future Daimler Buses will concentrate on its core business and therefore on the production of complete buses and chassis over 8 tons. In light of this renewed focus Daimler Buses sold the Dortmund-based Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH to the Munich-based owner-managed industrial group AEQUITA. AEQUITA takes over the minibus company with around 240 employees, thereby securing the future of the Dortmund site. Responsible parties signed a corresponding purchase agreement on November 22, 2021. The transaction will be completed on January 01, 2022.
   
   The production of Mercedes-Benz brand minibuses at the Dortmund plant will continue. There will be a continued close partnership between Daimler Buses and AEQUITA in the areas of sales and aftersales.

   With the shift to electrified vehicles speeding up in society’s pursuit of cleaner and more efficient mobility, Magna is enabling global automakers to electrify their vehicle platforms with a full range of hybrid and fully electric powertrain solutions. The company has confirmed that it has received a Hybrid Dual-Clutch Transmission award from Mercedes-Benz for next generation compact and mid-size vehicles, further demonstrating Magna’s continuing transformation in the electrification of mobility.
   
   Magna’s powertrain expertise is supplying power to the wheels, regardless of the power source. The company is able to supply traditional products as well as electrified components and systems to automakers as they migrate their vehicle offerings toward hybrid and electric vehicles.
   
   Two other HDT programs will launch in the coming months with global OEMs as the company further extends its foothold into powertrain electrification.

   Nog een kwartiertje en de vrachtwagendivisie van Daimler begint een eigen beurscarrière in Frankfurt. Aandeelhouders van Daimler ontvangen vandaag per 2 stuks Daimler één stuk Daimler Truck. Volgend jaar verandert Daimler dan van naam in Mercedes Benz Group. De opslitsing maakt een einde aan de 100 jaar waarin de bedrijven onder één dak werkten.
   
   De spin-off is bedoeld om de waarderingen van beide bedrijven op te vijzelen en geldt als de belangrijkste strategische stap bij de Duitse autofabrikant sinds de verkoop van Chrysler in 2007.

   Debuut Daimler Truck: met een rustige vlam in de pijp
   
   In Frankfurt is de beurscarrière van Daimler Truck een uurtje oud. De vrachtwagendivisie van de autobouwer maakt een rustig maar bemoedigend debuut. De aandelen gingen tegen 28 euro naar de beurs, goed voor een beurswaardering van bijna 24 miljard euro.
   
   Ze stegen licht bij opening naar 29,2 euro.
   
   CEO Martin Daum moest bij de beursbel nog even wennen: 'Ik ben meer vertrouwd met de klaxons van vrachtwagens'.
   
   We zetten zo een apart stukje in de marinade over deze symboolbeursgang die de toekomst van Mercedes richting elektrische voertuigen moet versnellen.

   AMSTERDAM - Terwijl de climax van het wereldkampioenschap bij de Formule 1 in de laatste wedstrijd van het seizoen pas zijn beslag krijgt, is de strijd op de beurs tussen de topteams actief in belangrijkste klasse van de racerij dit jaar een stuk minder spannend. Het aandeel Daimler, het moederbedrijf van Mercedes, laat dit jaar met de prestaties Honda, de motorleverancier van Red Bull, ver achter zich.
   
   Ondanks de perikelen bij de toeleveranciersketen hebben beleggers in Daimler dit jaar bepaald geen reden tot klagen. De Duitse automaker, die naast de bouw van luxe wagens en bestelwagens ook actief is op de markt van vrachtwagens en bussen, heeft per saldo op de beurs in Frankfurt meer dan 50% winst behaald. Het naar de beurs brengen van de truckdivisie kreeg een enthousiaste ontvangst. De plannen van Daimler om fors gaan investeren in paradepaardje Mercedes -Benz met de ontwikkeling van een aantal volledig elektrische modellen vielen ook in goede aarde.
   
   De verwachting bij de Duitse automaker is dat klanten met een grotere beurs sneller de overstap naar groene wagens gaan maken dan consumenten in de massaproductie. „Duitse autobouwers hebben een flinke inhaalslag gemaakt na de zware inzinking in maart vorig jaar. Ook de zwakke euro geeft daarbij steun”, stelt Corné van Zeijl, analist bij Actiam. „Het is echter nog onzeker hoe Mercedes het in de belangrijke Chinese automarkt gaat doen gelet op de toegenomen voorzichtigheid bij Chinese consumenten.”

   Ondanks de gunstige gang van zaken bij Mercedes dit jaar op de beurs wijst Albert Jan Swart, sectoreconoom transport bij ABN Amro, er op dat traditionele autobouwers in Europa voorlopig nog vastzitten om op twee fronten te moeten blijven investeren. „Aan de ene kant komt er steeds meer vraag naar elektrische modellen, maar aan de andere kant moet er ook nog steeds geld naar het ontwikkelen van modellen met traditionele verbrandingsmotoren vanwege de terughoudendheid die er nog heerst bij veel consumenten om de overstap te maken.”

   Een ander nadeel dat de grote Europese autobouwers volgens Swart hebben bij de transformatie naar groen rijden is de afhankelijkheid van de batterijtechnologie. „Zeker in vergelijking met elektrische autobouwers, zoals Tesla of Neo in China. Zo zijn er in Duitsland wel grote bedrijven die zich bezighouden met energie-innovatie, maar niet specifiek op het gebied van batterijcellen voor accupakketten. Europa wil dan ook de afhankelijkheid van vooral Azië verminderen, maar met het neerzetten van een nieuwe batterijfabriek ben je al snel een paar jaar verder. ”

   Verder zit er ook concurrentie vanuit de hoek van grote Amerikaanse techfondsen aan te komen voor autobouwers in Europa, benadrukt Swart. „Zo is Apple die over zeer diepe zakken beschikt bezig met de ontwikkeling van een zelfrijdende auto.” Van Zeijl gaat er echter van uit dat het nog flinke tijd duurt voordat er volledig zelfrijdende auto’s op de markt komen. „Hoewel er in sommige afgebakende terreinen in de VS er al mee wordt getest, is er nog een lange weg te gaan.”
   
   Chips
   Het Japanse automerk Honda, dat dit seizoen afscheid neemt van Red Bull als motorleverancier, komt op de beurs in Tokio dit jaar nauwelijks op gang. Het aandeel van het bedrijf dat ook zeer actief is met de verkoop van motoren koerst per saldo iets meer dan 10% hoger.

   Het minder goed presteren van Honda hangt samen met de zorgen over de productieverstoringen bij de grote Japanse autofabrikanten mede vanwege de tekorten aan chips. De onzekerheid over de strategie met elektrische modellen speelt het sentiment in de Japanse autosector ook parten, meent Van Zeijl. „Zo zet Toyota nog steeds vooral in op hybride wagens en blijft het auto’s op waterstof ontwikkelen.”

Van Zeijl houdt er rekening mee dat de actieradius van een elektrische auto daarbij een belangrijke factor kan spelen. „In ons land is er al een goede infrastructuur, maar voor automobilisten in Duitsland speelt het rijden van lange afstanden een veel grotere rol.”

    Bijna een vijfde van Daimler in Chinese handen
    
    Beijing Automotive Group Co (BAIC), de Chinese autobouwer met wie Daimler DAI 1,64% al jaren samenwerkt, heeft 9,98 procent van de Duitse autobouwer in handen. Dat belang houdt BAIC al sinds 2019 aan en is dubbel zo groot als tot dusver gedacht: volgens de website van Daimler bedroeg het slechts 5 procent. Met 9,98 procent lijkt BAIC nu de grootste aandeelhouder van Daimler te zijn.
    
    Daimler en BAIC zijn overigens door een kruisparticipatie aan elkaar gelinkt: Daimler bezit 9,55 procent van in Hongkong noterende dochter BAIC Motor en 2,46 procent van een andere, in Shanghai noterende dochter BAIC BluePark.
    
    Aangezien volgens Daimler daarnaast Li Shufu, de topman van Volvo-eigenaar Zhejiang Geely, 9,7 procent bezit, is dus bijna 20 procent van wat binnenkort Mercedes-Benz zal heten, in Chinese handen. Dat is zonder rekening te houden met kleinere Chinese aandeelhouders.
    
    Vorige vrijdag werd de vrachtwagendivisie Daimler Truck

    Het Duitse automerk Mercedes-Benz gaat twee fabrieken eerder sluiten voor de kerstvakantie vanwege een gebrek aan computerchips. De vestigingen gaan ergens in de loop van deze week dicht, aldus het bedrijf maandag.
    
    Het gaat om een fabriek in het Duitse Bremen en een vestiging in het Hongaarse Kecskemét. De fabriek in Bremen zou op 10 januari weer moeten beginnen en die in Kecskemét zou ook in die week weer moeten gaan draaien.
    
    Volgens Mercedes-Benz, onderdeel van Daimler, zal de productiepauze onder meer worden gebruikt voor onderhoudswerkzaamheden.
    
    Bij de fabriek in Bremen werken ongeveer 12.500 mensen en bij die in Kecskemét circa 4.700. Daimler heeft de productie al vaker moeten onderbreken vanwege de nijpende chiptekorten, die ook veel andere grote autofabrikanten raken.

    Meritor Inc announced it will provide its Blue Horizon 14Xe integrated ePowertrain for the next generation, all-electric Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley school bus from Thomas Built Buses. This is Meritor’s first electric vehicle production award with a Daimler Trucks North America brand. The intended agreement will span five years and is expected to start in January 2024.
    
    Meritor’s 14Xe ePowertrain system is in full production and suitable for a wide range of commercial vehicle applications across Classes 5-8.

    Drie grote truckbouwers gaan samenwerken rond laadnetwerk
    
    Volvo Group, Daimler Truck en Traton Group (MAN, Scania, Navistar, Volkswagen) zetten samen een joint venture op om doorheen Europa een openbaar netwerk van laadpunten te realiseren waar elektrische zware vrachtwagens en bussen hun batterijen kunnen opladen. De gezamenlijke onderneming zal telkens voor een derde in handen zijn van de drie partijen en zal in 2022 van start gaan, eens alle regelgevende processen zijn doorlopen.
    
    Het is de bedoeling om de komende vijf jaar minstens 1.700 hoogperformante laadpunten te voorzien langs en in de buurt van autosnelwegen, in logistieke centra en op bestemmingspunten.
    
    Traton wint 1,9 procent, Volvo Group 2,3 procent en Daimler Truck 1,2 procent. Vermoedelijk hebben de stijgingen niets met de samenwerking rond laadpunten te maken, maar zijn ze meer een gevolg van het algemene optimisme dat donderdag op de beurzen heerst.

    The three leading commercial vehicle manufacturers the TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck, and Volvo Group have now signed a binding agreement to create a joint venture to install and operate a high-performance public charging network for battery electric, heavy-duty long-haul trucks and coaches across Europe. As previously communicated, the parties are committed to initiating and accelerating the necessary build-up of charging infrastructure for the increasing number of customers of electric vehicles in Europe and contribute to climate-neutral transportation in Europe by 2050. The JV creation is subject to regulatory approvals.
    
    The planned JV, to be equally owned by the three parties, is scheduled to start operations in 2022 following completion of all regulatory approval processes. The parties are together committing to invest EUR 500 million, which is assumed to be by far the largest charging infrastructure investment in the European heavy-duty truck industry to date. The plan is to install and operate at least 1,700 high-performance green energy charging points on and close to highways as well as at logistic and destination points within five years of the establishment of the JV. The number of charging points is with time intended to be increased significantly by seeking additional partners as well as public funding. The future JV is planned to operate under its own corporate identity and be based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The future JV will be able to build on the broad experience and knowledge of its heavy-duty trucking founding partners.
    
    The future JV will act as catalyst and enabler for realizing the European Union’s Green Deal for carbon-neutral freight transportation by 2050, both by providing the necessary infrastructure and targeting green energy at the charging points. The joint action of the TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck, and Volvo Group addresses the urgent need for a high-performance charging network to support truck operators with their transition to CO2-neutral transport solutions, especially in heavy-duty long-distance trucking. High-performance charging infrastructure enabling long-haul trucking is a cost-efficient way towards significant, fast-to-realize emission reductions. This initiative is a significant start and an accelerator to make CO2-neutral heavy trucks and coaches a success.

    Daimler & BYD Agree on Future Setup of DENZA JV in China

    Daimler Greater China Ltd and its long-term Chinese partner BYD Auto Industry Co Ltd have signed an equity transfer agreement to realign the structural setup of their joint venture Shenzhen DENZA New Energy Automotive Co Ltd. Both partners intend to complete an equity transfer in DENZA. Following the equity transfer, Daimler will hold an equity interest of 10% and BYD will hold 90% equity interest. The equity transfer is subject to regulatory approvals and is planned for mid of 2022. As a pioneer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), DENZA made robust progress thanks to joint efforts from both shareholders. The strong support in operations by BYD will facilitate the future success of DENZA, while Daimler stays committed as a shareholder. Both Daimler and BYD remain dedicated to their successful long-term partnership.
    
    Daimler and BYD aim to accelerate the development of DENZA in China’s fast-growing NEV market. In 2022, DENZA will introduce new models to the Chinese market and seek further growth opportunities. The DENZA operation team will ensure that existing customers continue to enjoy relevant customer services.
    
    Daimler and BYD have been long-term partners in the Chinese market. In 2010, both companies signed the contract for the 50:50 research and technology joint venture BYD Daimler New Technology Co Ltd with the goal to develop and produce NEVs in and for China. The vehicle was marketed under the new DENZA brand owned by BDNT. It was the first joint venture from an international carmaker and a local carmaker focused purely on NEVs.
    
    Since the market launch of the first vehicle, the DENZA brand has built a solid reputation among customers in China with reliable, high-quality products. Through the development of the DENZA brand, both Daimler and BYD gained valuable experience and customer insights in the China’s high-end NEV market, the largest and the most dynamic in the world.

    Mercedes haalt woede Chinezen op de hals met reclamespot

    BEIJING (ANP/BLOOMBERG) - Autoconcern Mercedes-Benz heeft zich de woede van vele Chinezen op de hals gehaald vanwege een reclamespotje waarin het model in de clip opvallende make-up droeg die vooral haar ogen benadrukte. Volgens vele Chinezen heeft de automaker zich daarmee schuldig gemaakt aan westerse stereotypering van Aziatische mensen. De clip werd al vrij snel na plaatsing op Chinese sociale media verwijderd, aldus Chinese staatsmedia.
    
    Het is zeker niet voor het eerst dat Chinezen vallen over afbeeldingen van Aziatische gelaatstrekken door buitenlandse bedrijven. Het voorval maakt de Duitse automaker het nieuwste doelwit van Chinees consumentennationalisme. Eerder kregen ook Dolce & Gabbana en Hennes & Mauritz al een storm van kritiek te verduren.
    
    Ook Walmart, dat stopte met de verkoop van bepaalde producten in de regio Xinjiang waar Oeigoeren zouden worden onderdrukt, kreeg de nodige beschuldigingen over zich heen. Christian Dior kwam onder vuur te liggen omdat het een foto plaatste van een model dat volgens staatsmedia "Aziatische vrouwen besmeurde".
    
    Verontschuldiging
    
    In China is een levendige discussie onder internetgebruikers over de manier waarop de ogen van modellen in reclames worden getoond. Het Chinese bedrijf Three Squirrels. verontschuldigde zich onlangs voor advertenties waarin model Cai Niang Niang make-up droeg die de schuinte van haar ogen accentueerde, meldde de South China Morning Post. Het model sloeg op haar Weibo-account, een soort Twitter, direct terug. Ze zei het eens te zijn met patriottisme. "Maar het creëren van grote problemen uit normale zaken is een morbide obsessie geworden", zo schreef ze.
    
    In 2018 verontschuldigde Mercedes-Benz zich al eens voor het citeren van de Dalai Lama op Instagram. De automaker had een citaat van de Tibetaanse spirituele leider bij een post gevoegd waarin een gestroomlijnd luxemodel werd getoond. "Bekijk situaties vanuit alle invalshoeken, en je zult opener worden." Chinese troepen liepen Tibet in 1951 onder de voet. De geestelijk leider van Tibet, de Dalai Lama, leeft al jaren in ballingschap in India.

    Mercedes-Benz and leader in solid-state batteries ProLogium have signed a technology cooperation agreement to develop next-generation battery cells. The first Mercedes-Benz test vehicles equipped with solid-state batteries co-developed with ProLogium are expected to be introduced in the coming years. The companies also agreed on milestones that would enable integration of the solid-state battery technology into a range of passenger vehicles in the second half of the decade. With its solid-state battery R&D and manufacturing know-how, ProLogium is a strong partner for Mercedes-Benz to maintain its role as a leader in battery technology.
    
    Under the agreement, Mercedes-Benz will take a seat on the ProLogium board of directors. The investment by Mercedes-Benz will be used to support the development of the technology and ProLogium’s plan of establishing production capacity in Europe.
    
    Mercedes-Benz plans to go all electric by 2030 wherever market conditions allow. By partnering with leading companies in the fast evolving field of solid-state technology, Mercedes-Benz is pushing ahead its research and development activities, fostering further leaps in battery technology and continuously expanding its network of top-flight tech partners to ensure that it has access to the most up-to-date technologies.

    Een Britse Mercedes-rijder kwam van een koude kermis thuis na een bezoekje aan zijn dealer. De accu van zijn acht jaar oude E300 BlueTec Hybrid moest vervangen worden. Het ding bleek uiteindelijk meer te kosten dan de auto zelf.
    
    Een tweedehands auto kopen is altijd een risico, maar als je bij de Mercedes-dealer binnenwandelt voor een jong gebruikte E-klasse mag je toch enige kwaliteit verwachten. Voor de 63-jarige Ranjit Sing uit het Engelse Leicester pakte dat echter helemaal verkeerd uit. In 2018 geleden kocht Singh een Mercedes E300 BlueTec Hybrid uit 2014 - naar eigen zeggen - in een poging om zijn CO2-uitstoot te verminderen. Met z'n 210 pk tweeliter diesel en 27 pk elektromotor doet de Merc het minimale, maar alle beetjes helpen. Ofzoiets.

    With the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox, the intelligent power grid at home is already becoming a reality to a certain extent. Users can connect it to their own Internet connection via Ethernet cable or WiFi. In this way, they can conveniently operate the wallbox with the Mercedes me App2 on their smartphone – no matter where they are. For example, they can control the charging process of their vehicle. With the help of an integrated energy meter, the current status of the charged electricity as well as the overview of all charging processes can be conveniently read in the Mercedes me App. An overview of charging costs is also available. To protect against unauthorized use, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox can be activated or locked via the app or via RFID card.
    
    The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox also has the technical option of receiving software updates “over-the-air” in the future. In this way, additional practical functions can be added continuously, for example access control with RFID or the smart integration of the wallbox into the customer’s own energy network and energy management system.
    
    Technology meets design
    
    Mercedes-Benz stands for the combination of convincing technology, outstanding comfort and ground-breaking design. This also applies to the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox. The housing follows the design principles of Mercedes-EQ and thus becomes a design piece for garage or carport. At the same time, it is robust and allows intuitive operation. The wallbox controls the charging process, adapts the charging power to the charging process and delivers up to 22 kW in three phases. This makes charging many times faster than at a conventional household socket. A multi-coloured LED light on the wallbox indicates the current status of the charging process. The integrated safety components of the wallbox, assuming the unit is correctly installed, provide additional protection against fault currents for the vehicle, the house installation and the wallbox during charging.
    
    In order to meet national funding requirements, if applicable, the maximum charging power can be reduced to 11 kW during installation by a qualified electrician. In Germany, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox is supplied with a permanently connected six-metre charging cable with a type 2 plug. Depending on national requirements, it is also expected to be available as a version with a Type 2 socket in the fourth quarter of 2022.
    
    The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charges all current and future Mercedes-Benz electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles with the universal Type 2 connection in accordance with the IEC 61851-1 standard. Of course, electric vehicles from other manufacturers can also be charged.
    
    The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox is expected to be available in Germany and in many European countries in April 2022 at Mercedes-Benz dealers.
