Many of these companies first unveiled a lineup of innovative battery-powered cars and SUVs in 2018 and 2019, following Tesla pioneering success in the new market. It seemed like an army of upstarts was poised to supplant stodgy giants such as Ford Motor and Toyota as the next household name in the industry.

    De Polestar 4 zal waarschijnlijk al gauw bekend staan als ‘de auto zonder achterruit’. Als argeloze passant valt het ontbreken ervan direct op. Maar de ingreep was nodig om fatsoenlijk achterin te kunnen zitten, blijkt tijdens de eerste testritten met de nieuwe, elektrische SUV-coupé.

    Polestar-ontwerper Max Missoni wilde een auto maken die een lange, lage daklijn zou hebben. Fraai voor het oog, maar funest voor de hoofdruimte van achterpassagiers. Immers, als het dak lager komt, zullen de mensen op de achterbank als eersten moeten buigen.

    Hertz’s EV fleet — which once stood at 60,000 EVs, will be cut down to half that at 30,000 EVs. A third of Hertz’s EV fleet was from Tesla (TSLA), with the rest coming from Polestar (PSNY), Volvo (VLVLY), and Chevrolet (GM).
