   Ja ja wordt nog een hele klus om geen winst te draaien in 2008 dan wel 2009.
   Ik zou niet graag op de stoel van de accountant zitten want wat moet je nu weer verzinnen (die fabrieken beginnen ook steeds voller te raken).

   Stock has been closing well. You would think somebody knew something.
   
   The last slideshow was pretty interesting Perseazes...laying out the nuts and bolts of the cost savings.
   
   I am hoping they will update guidance soon, as there was no problem with the Inflexal flu formulation, the shipments should have started going out in 3Q, and they whould have a pretty good idea of how they are going to pan out. My sggestion is to up guidance and give a specific range of 10 million euro, with the idea they beat the top end come year end. With Crucell showing 44% increase for 1H08, and another Quinvaxem add-on, the Street will be disappointed if they cannot bump guidanc this quarter. If Crucell simply matches the revenues for last year during the final 6 months they will have 15% revenue growth.
   
   Currencies have been better behaved as of late as well.
   
   When was it announced last Year that Sanofi was proceding to phase II of flu trials? We have heard nothing about it so far. Crucell didn't give details, but had commented by now in 2007 that the Phase I trials had finished with no issues. Milestone will come, I believe, when they start Phase III. I have not heard if the milestones are progressive.

   Leiden, The Netherlands, 1 October 2008 - Dutch biopharma company
   Crucell N.V. today announced the preliminary results of the first
   phase II clinical study of its investigational rabies monoclonal
   antibody combination, which started on 31 March 2008 in the US.
   
   Crucell has a collaboration and commercialization agreement with
   sanofi pasteur, the vaccines division of sanofi-aventis Group, for
   Crucell's rabies monoclonal antibodies to be used in combination with
   rabies vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis against this fatal
   disease.
   
   The preliminary results of the US study were presented today by Dr.
   Christophe Python, at the XIX Rabies in the Americas RITA conference
   in Atlanta, U.S.
   
   This phase II trial was set up as a randomized, single-blind,
   controlled study in 140 healthy volunteers and tested the antibody
   product in association with sanofi pasteur human diploid cell rabies
   vaccine. The study compared the rabies monoclonal antibody
   combination to a currently marketed human rabies immune globulin or
   placebo, in association with the rabies vaccine in a simulated rabies
   post-exposure setting.
   
   A total of 140 subjects were randomized into the study, 80 in the
   CL184 monoclonal antibody combination treatment group, 40 in the
   human rabies immune globulin group and 20 in the placebo group. All
   subjects completed the study. There was no serious adverse event
   reported. Most adverse events were mild or moderate in severity.
   Overall, the systemic safety was comparable in the placebo, the HRIG
   and the monoclonal antibody combination groups. Injection site
   reactions to the monoclonal antibody combination, the human rabies
   immune globulin or placebo were reported by 12.5%, 65 % and 30% of
   the subjects, respectively.
   
   The neutralizing activity against the rabies virus (a surrogate
   marker for protection) provided by the monoclonal antibody
   combination was comparable to that provided by the comparator. By day
   14, all subjects administered the monoclonal antibodies combination
   together with the rabies vaccine reached the level of 0.5 IU/ml, a
   neutralizing activity levels thought to provide protection. Of note,
   the development of the immune response to the rabies vaccine was
   comparable in the monoclonal antibody combination and the human
   rabies immune globulin groups. These encouraging preliminary results
   are paving the way for the further development of this potentially
   life-saving medicine.
   
   On February 12th, 2008 Crucell announced that its rabies monoclonal
   antibody combination was granted Fast Track status by the US Food and
   Drug Administration (FDA). A second phase II clinical study started
   on May 13, 2008, in the Philippines, and is expected to be completed
   before year-end 2008. The trial, which is being carried out in 48
   healthy adolescents and children, aims to generate safety data in
   these populations.
   
   "We are very pleased with our continued and rapid progress with this
   next generation rabies treatment," said Ronald Brus, Crucell's Chief
   Executive Officer. "These results and the milestone achieved put us
   another step closer to our ambition of reducing the global burden of
   this fatal disease."

   Crucell: resultaten met studie hondsdolheid-middel
   
   LEIDEN (AFN) - Biotechnologiebedrijf Crucell heeft naar eigen zeggen positieve resultaten geboekt bij de zogeheten tweede fase van het klinisch onderzoek voor een geneesmiddel in de VS tegen hondsdolheid bij mensen. Dat maakte Crucell woensdagavond bekend.
   
   Bij de 140 personen die aan de studie meewerkten, kwamen geen serieuze bijwerkingen naar voren, aldus Crucell. “Deze hoopgevende eerste resultaten maken de weg vrij voor de verdere ontwikkeling van een mogelijk levensreddend medicijn”, aldus Crucell. Het bedrijf startte in mei ook een tweede fase-onderzoek in de Filipijnen. Crucell verwacht dat deze studie voor het einde van het jaar is afgerond.
   
   Het bedrijf werkt in dit onderzoek nauw samen met het Franse Sanofi Pasteur, de vaccindivisie van Sanofi-Aventis. Crucell kan bij succesvolle ontwikkeling en verkoop van het vaccin, een bedrag van 66,5 miljoen euro krijgen. Crucell schat de markt voor medicijnen tegen hondsdolheid op meer dan 300 miljoen euro.

   maar mogelijk levensreddend medicijn wil zeggen ze zijn er nog niet. kan als het lukt veel geld gaan opbrengen ????

   Na goedkeuring van de FDA kan men aan fase 3 beginnen en daarna na goedkeuring van de FDA op de markt brengen. En dan pas mag men van een levensreddend medicijn spreken. Daarvoor is het alleen een mogelijk levensreddend medicijn.

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--Crucell nv heeft voorlopige positieve resultaten behaald bij de fase-II-studie naar antilichamen voor hondsdolheid. Dat meldt het Leidse biotechnologieconcern woendagavond. De studie valt in de samenwerking die Crucell heeft met Sanofi Pasteur, de vaccindivisie van Sanofi-Aventis Group.
    
    Aan de test deden 140 gezonde vrijwilligers mee. De studie vergeleek onder meer de werking van de cocktail met een middel dat al op de markt is en met een placebo. Er is geen serieus ongunstig geval gemeld, stelt Crucell.
    
    Verder meldt het bedrijf onder meer dat de neutraliserende werking vergelijkbaar was met die van het andere middel. Deze bemoedigende voorlopige resultaten maken de weg vrij voor verder ontwikkeling van het medicijn, oordeelt het biotechbedrijf.
    
    Op 3 januari meldde Crucell dat het volgens de overeenkomst met Sanofi in eerste instantie een betaling van EUR10 miljoen ontvangt. Daarnaast heeft het Leidse bedrijf recht op mijlpaalbetalingen die kunnen oplopen tot EUR66,5 miljoen en krijgt het een niet nader gespecificeerd percentage van de toekomstige omzet van het eindproduct.
    
    Jaarlijks worden zo'n 10 miljoen mensen wereldwijd ingeent tegen hondsdolheid. De virusziekte, die meestal wordt overgedragen door een beet van een besmet zoogdier, kost naar schatting jaarlijks 40.000 tot 70.000 mensen het leven, vooral in Azie. Sanofi Pasteur is de wereldwijde marktleider op het gebied van inentingen tegen hondsdolheid.

    Wat heeft Crucell moeten afboeken ?
    
    Fortis extra afboeking van 5 miljard op credit-junk (effectisering die niet op de balans stond).
    Verwatering -35% en afroming van de inkomsten uit de bankpoten, want +49% gaat naar de overheden aandeelhouders. Geen winstmogelijkheid op ABN-Amro.
    
    BTW. Nederlandse en Luxemburgse bankpoot vallen onder Fortis.BE, de Belgische bankpoot die voor 49% in handen is van BE. Belgium NV casht dus 49% van fortis.BE en 25% van fortis.NL en 25% van fortis.LUX (via de federale investeringsmaatschappij).

    Crucell has finished strong lately. Waiting for the US market to open, and then making it's best run in the last hour.
    
    If you run a trendline for the highs of 2008, starting in January
    14.10 euro
    
    then May 14

    that line is now sitting at 12.12
    
    In addition, the 52 week high is sitting at 15.08 from last October 15. After that the 52 week high quickly becomes 14.10. So if we can break out, then we can start setting 52 week highs. From a technical perspective, this is very important.
    
    The 50 dma is at 10.95 and trending up, the 200dma is at 10.78 and flat.
    
    The weekly 30ma is at 11 and trending up
    
    We are at the top of the daily BB's, but the weekly BB's are sitting at 12.70euro
    
    The weekly MACD is now positive, and the MACD EMA(9)...that would be the red line...which has not been in positive territory since May of 07, is getting ready to cross into positive territory.
    Money flow has been positive 100 million in 2008.
    
    We are in a 10 month flag formation starting from the beginning of this year... dictated by lower highs and higher lows. The ratios of the company have gotten as stupid as the market in general. Waiting for the catalyst that will set this stock back up. At the latest it will the CC, but I think they will preannounce. Higher high, or something above 12.48 will set off alarms.

    And that combined with a daily oscillator ( 10, 70 ) , will be the start of a 2.5 year rise towards 34 euro.

    I usually don't look at monthly's, but the cross into negative territory in May 2006 marked the beginning of the downturn that started at the end of 2005(all time high, and the cross back into positive territory could mark a prolonged outturn.
    
    I hate to keep banging the same drum, but the stock could be 3 to 4 times higher and not be out of line with the ratios of many of its peers. Funny, that would put it at 34 euros.
    
    No Offense Wilb52, but are we both sounding optimistic?
