   Gisteren nam de PoGold een belangrijke horizontale weerstand. Bijgevolg stegen de koersen van de PM aandelen flink.

   MDG + 6.2 %
   AUY + 6.5 % (=Yamana) KOers: 12.42
   
   Mbt de NTO-MDG Take-over is beslist dat de MDG Poison Pill maar toepasbaar is tot Maandag a.s.
   Het lijkt er op, dat de goudaandelen weer betere dagen staan te wachten.
   Voor AUY is de 200-DMA @ 12.84, dat zou dan wat weerstand kunnen geven.

   Geen "white knights" voor MDG ivm TO battle.
   Dat verhaal blijkt dus gewoon bluf/ leugens te zijn geweesd.
   Als MDG aandeelhouders concluderen, dat MDG management verkeerde voorstelling heeft gegeven, dan zou de AUY-MDG-NTO TO wel kans maken.
   Uiteraard de Institutionals (Fidelity) zullen de doorslag moeten geven.

   TORONTO, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Meridian Gold (MDG), the target of a unwelcomed takeover bid by Yamana Gold, said on Friday that third parties will not make bid for the mid-tier gold miner. The company also urged its shareholders to continue to reject the Yamana offer which it terms as inadequate.
   RENO, NV, Sep. 7, 2007 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- Meridian Gold Inc. ("Meridian Gold" or the "Company") (MDG) today announced that the third parties with whom the Company has been having discussions have informed the Company that they do not intend to make proposals relating to an acquisition of Meridian Gold pursuant to the Board of Directors' previously announced value-maximizing process.
   Brian Kennedy, Chairman of Meridian Gold's Board of Directors, said, "As we have previously disclosed, in connection with our Board's efforts to maximize shareholder value, we engaged in serious discussions with a number of interested parties relating to a potential strategic transaction. Although several parties expressed very serious interest in a potential acquisition of the Company, each of them has now informed the Company that, for their own internal reasons, they will not be submitting proposals at this time.

   Toch is dit geklooi niet goed voor het aandeel want de goudprijs is above $700 en Yamana down naar $11.55 nu .Het aandeel had al ver boven de $15 moeten bivakkeren...................

   Vaak zie je bij TO op ST dit soort effecten.
   Verklaring zou kunnen zijn, dat Institutionals die nu MDG hebben binnenkort AUY aandelen krijgen. Bijgevolg als ze nu AUY gaan Shorten (al of niet voor een deel van hun toekomstige positie), dan later minder koersrisico.
   
   Anderzijds zou je een gunstiger P/E voor de AUY-MDG-NTO company mogen verwachten. Dwz dat zou koersopdrijvend effect moeten hebebn. Maar ja, er wordt door diverse partijen natuurlijk zwaar gerotzooid om de retail investors op het verkeerde been te zetten.
   Wellicht dat aantal investors nu gewoon verkoopt vanwege onduidelijke situatie.

   HI,
   ik blijf ook long maar de omzet van afgelopen vrijdag(14 milj.)was bijna 2x de dagomzet dus er was wel wat aan de hand. Ik gok op angsthazen/nervous nellies en idd zo als jij al zegt het shortersleger is weer staande bij.

   Vandaag de meeste PM aandelen onderuit.
   Het is September... markt slecht. Daarbij komt natuurlijk dat vorige week er mooie koerswinsten waren voor de PM aandelen, omdat PoGold uitgebroken.
   Uiteraard komt er dan weer twijfel of die Breakout het zal houden, dus nu dan terugtesten..

   VANCOUVER (Dow Jones)--Yamana Gold Inc.'s (AUY) $3.2 billion hostile takeover battle for Meridian Gold Inc. (MDG) will continue for another two weeks, after the base- and precious-metals producer said Tuesday that 34% of Meridian shareholders had tendered their shares.
   
   Yamana Chief Executive Peter Marrone chose not to alter the terms of the offer, saying the acceptances so far "indicate that a good percentage of Meridian shareholders agree that this is a compelling offer."
   
   Yamana is offering Meridian 2.235 of its shares plus $4 for each Meridian share - an offer that Meridian has consistently said undervalues the company. Yamana's takeover of a third company, Vancouver-based Northern Orion Resources Inc. (NTO), is contingent on Yamana's Meridian deal going through.
   
   It's the Northern Orion part of the deal that the market is tracking closely. In Toronto Wednesday, Northern Orion shares are down 44 Canadian cents to C$5.86, which translates into roughly an 11% discount to Yamana's offer price, analysts said.
   "Some arbitrage (houses) have been locking in prices and simply taking money off the table; they're sitting back to see what happens next," one analyst said.
   
   The 11% discount, while large, isn't as much as the discount in the middle of last week, when Northern Orion was trading as much as 30% below Yamana's offer, which is 0.543 of a Yamana share for each Northern Orion share. Analysts said the 30% discount showed at the time that the market didn't believe Yamana would be successful in its Meridian overture.
   
   However, during a regulatory meeting last week, Meridian revealed that at least two white knights were in the wings and considering a competitive bid. But on Friday, Meridian was forced to disclose that both undisclosed suitors wouldn't be making bids after all.
   
   Trading Activity High
   Trading in all three shares since that Friday announcement has been hectic as investors, especially arbitrage houses, started buying Northern Orion, betting that Yamana's bid for Meridian would be successful because there was no alternative bid.
   
   Tuesday's revelation that only 34% of Meridian shareholders had tendered their paper wasn't the Yamana slam dunk some were hoping for and now the market is awaiting Marrone's next step.
   "The 11% discount suggests the market is taking a wait-and-see approach to this deal; it isn't suggesting that the market thinks Yamana has failed," said one analyst.
   
   Having said that, analysts noted that about 27% of Meridian's shares have changed hands since Friday and, given the usual trade-plus-three-days settlement process, this paper can't be tendered until Thursday, at the earliest.
   "I would expect some further squeezing of Meridian shares in coming days," said one analyst. "Trade settlement is the wrinkle here; these are interesting times."
   
   It's unclear what Yamana's Marrone will do next and a Yamana spokesman wouldn't be drawn on the issue. "We're looking at a number of possibilities," he said.
   There's a widespread feeling that Yamana will either have to bump its Meridian offer higher or rework its standing offer by reducing the percentage of acceptances required to a simple majority from the current two-thirds.
   
   A Credit Suisse note Wednesday said "we continue to believe the offer price is not sufficient to entice 66.7% of (Meridian) shareholders... At this stage, we believe (Yamana) will either have to increase its offer to entice the remaining shareholders or try to exercise minority control with the shares it has."
   
   In Toronto Wednesday, Meridian is up 38 Canadian cents at C$30.88 on 2.5 million shares. The current value of Yamana's offer for Meridian is about C$31.16.
   Yamana is up 10 Canadian cents at C$12.25 on 11.5 million shares.

    Als ik het dus goed zie blijven deze druk pratijken dus doorgaan tot minimaal 2 oct..
    De goudprijs is enorm gestegende laatste weken en Yamana daalt, ik denk toch dat een heleboel niet blij zijn met die hele situatie.
    De $13 werd net vorige week gehaald en nu alweer $11.60,pfff.

    Hi Robert
    Morgen dan uitsluitsel. De TO lijkt rond. Innemen van nieuwe posities zal vnl pas gebeuren als eea definitief.
    De nieuwe grotere Yamana lijkt mij er goed voor te staan: FA is conservatief. Nu dan de recente forse prijsstijging voor PoGold. De multiple (P/E) voor de grotere company zou gunstiger behoren te zijn.
    Maw diverse redenen voor vlotte koersstijging naar 15, dan zou je eindejaar/Januari koers van US$ 20 mogen verwachten.

    Ben nog steeds geduldig en idd als de TO ,rond is zou en zeker gezien de POG stijging de koers van AUY nu normaal gesproken al boven de 16 moeten staan( voor de TO was AUY op 15$ bij POG $690). Dus ben benieuwd wat the new company gaat doen voor ons.............sit and wait.

    Ja, de TO is pas afgerond op 10 October (en niet op 2 October). Dan hebben we wel een grotere company, dan zou je gunstiger multiples (zoals P/E) mogen verwachten.
    En de chart toont ook een bullish Kop-en-Schouder bodem reversal patroon. Maw IMHO na 12 October vrij vlot naar de 15 (oude Highs) en dan eindejaar hopelijk naar de 20..

    Daar misschien wat winst nemen, dwz plukje in de verkoop ? Of evt Calls schrijven voor deel v/d aandelen.
    
    Toch verwacht ik wel, dat we nieuwe Highs gaan maken... wanneer ?
    Nieuwe Highs lijken plausibel gezien performance van AEM, GOLD, BVN.....

    IMHO gaan we vlot naar de 15 (vandaag ?) en dan wat zijwaarts (paar dagen/ weken ?) en dan door naar 18-20.
