    Amnon Shashua's visie op de George Hotz/ Comma.ai manier (DNN= Deep Neural Networks).

    Het is niet mogelijk volgens hem om het zonder 'training' van de data vooraf te doen omdat de 'corner data' gevallen té weinig voorkomen om er voordat je de weg opgaat kennis erover hebt opgedaan.
    Zeer interessant en het bewijst maar weer dat de man geen simpele verhalenverkoper/zakkenvuller is.

    In an interview, Mobileye Chairman and Chief Technology Officer Amnon Shashua said the 2019 deals are “fully committed” and “real programs” that will represent an inflection point for the auto industry. Shashua declined to name the auto makers signing up for the technology.

    He did say Volkswagen AG VOW, -0.41% , BMW AG BMW, -3.94% and General Motors Co. GM, +0.32% are among the five auto makers in line to buy a system for vehicles produced in 2018 that will allow cars to operate autonomously only when driving on the highway; the 2019 deal will enable this type of functionality in all conditions.

    Mobileye's Autonomous Programs & REM Update

    Mobileye's CFO and Senior VP Ofer Maharshak and Chief Communications Officer and Senior VP Dan Galves provided a company update at William Blair's 36th Annual Growth Stock Conference. Here is some new information about Mobileye's Autonomous Driving activities and its REM (Road experience Management) Mapping.

    Autonomous Driving -- Management said the company will be announcing the first ever level 4 fully autonomous driving program in a few weeks. The program, expected to launch in 2021, will initially be part of a ride-sharing program and will include Mobileye’s REM (mapping) technology. The company previously had not mentioned the timing (to be announced in a few weeks) or nature (ride-sharing) of the agreement. The company is also in the closing phases of an agreement for another level 4 autonomous program (with a launch in the 2019-2021 time frame). This agreement is also expected to be a ridesharing program in its first iteration. Both programs will use the EyeQ5 chip.
    REM -- Mobileye expects to sign up four to five additional OEMs for REM within the next six to nine months. To date, the company has reached agreements with General Motors, VW, and Nissan. Management also indicated potential monetization opportunities for REM from mapping services and technology companies, in addition to automotive OEMs (although likely not meaningful until at least 2019).

A key aspect of the approach is eliminating the need for hand-programmed rules and procedures — such as finding lane markings, guardrails or other cars. This avoids the creation of a near infinite number of “if, then, else” statements, which is impractical to code when trying to account for the randomness that occurs on the road.

    Die CTO Amnon Shashua van Mobileye mengt zich dus gewoon in discussies over DNN en AI op Reddit. Dat zie ik Tom2 directie hem nog niet even nadoen. Hij heeft een commentaar geschreven op zijn REM presentatie die dieper in ging op Neurale netwerken. Die was gehouden voor banken en investeerders deed in zijn ogen geen recht aan de inhoud en diepgang van hun onderzoek irt de aanpak van comma.ai. Dus hij heeft er maar even een paper over geschreven. Kijk, dan ben je in mijn ogen goed bezig en sta je wel achter je ideeën.

    Intel kan donderdag mogelijk op aandacht rekenen vanwege de aankondiging dat vrijdag 'spannend nieuws' bekend wordt gemaakt. Mogelijk zou het gaan om een deal met het Duitse BMW en de Israelische software-ontwikkelaar Mobileye om zelfrijdende auto's te gaan ontwikkelen. Intel werd donderdagmiddag nog niet verhandeld.

    Van Intel is een beetje het verhaal dat ze te laat met IOT begonnen zijn. Mogelijk gaan ze clouddiensten leveren? Tot nu toe maakt Mobileye hun maps door samen met General Motors hun Onstar network hiervoor te gebruiken. BMW zal ook iets soortgelijks nodig hebben en wellicht is Intel hiervoor in de race?

    Tja, van Citron weten we onderhand hoe het zit en het aandeel is ook al een keer in een duikvlucht terecht gekomen van $64 naar $24. Dat kan natuurlijk bij gedraaid sentiment of nóg een ongeluk met een Tesla weer gebeuren. Er is altijd wel een reden en een moment dat een aandeel naar beneden kan. Bij Mobileye is het natuurlijk de veels te hoge koers die onzekerheid en nervositeit teweeg brengt. Een strakke stoploss is bij dit soort aandelen vandaag de dag wel slim.

    Niettemin heb ik vertrouwen in hun technische oplossingen.
