    Laatste koers 07:40, 15-01-18 8,73 EUR
    Slotkoers 8,622
    Bied 8,60
    Laat 8,62

dus het kan nog alle kanten uit, zeg het maar.

Ik doe op dit moment zeker niets, alleen op aanzienlijk lager niveau positie uitbreiden.

The self-driving Chevrolet Bolt - already being tested on busy streets in San Francisco and Phoenix with a human engineer in the vehicle - relies on cameras, radar, and high-precision laser sensors known as lidar for navigation.

Beginning in 2019, the vehicles will be used in a ride-sharing program in multiple American cities, where "the vehicles will travel on a fixed route controlled by their mapping system," Bloomberg reported.

To improve safety, the vehicles will share information with one another and rely on two computer systems, which operate simultaneously so that if one computer encounters a problem, the second computer can serve as a backup, according to GM's self-driving safety report.

The report says the Cruise AV was designed to operate in chaotic, fluid conditions, such as aggressive drivers, jaywalkers, bicyclists, delivery trucks and construction.

"With its advanced sensor systems, the Cruise AV has the capability to see the environment around it, in 360 degrees, day and night," the safety report adds. "It is designed to identify pedestrians in a crosswalk, or an object darting suddenly into its path, and to respond accordingly. It can manoeuvre through construction cones, yield to emergency vehicles and react to avoid collisions."

As The Washington Post reported last month, the ambitious timeline GM has set for getting the Cruise AV on the road could place the automaker in an enviable position -- the unique ability to provide existing ride-hailing companies such as Lyft or Uber with a growing fleet of autonomous vehicles or, better yet, to unleash GM's own service.

The company has access to vast dealership networks, nationwide influence and manufacturing prowess, potentially offering a GM-driven ride-hailing service the opportunity to supplant the Silicon Valley start-ups that have been seeking for years to disrupt the auto industry

Ford has announced it is integrating Waze into its SYNC 3 touch screen to provide drivers with real-time traffic and navigation information which can be controlled by voice commands.

Ford says drivers can simply plug their Waze-equipped smartphone into the USB port of their vehicle, and once plugged in, Waze will project onto its touch screen. This allows users to access the app’s features conveniently on a larger display and with their vehicle’s own sound system.

“All the great features Waze users have come to know will be accessible through Ford’s integration of the software,” the company says in a statement. “This includes recent updates such as Talk to Waze, which allows you to control the app with voice commands, and HOV route support, which provides additional navigation options and arrival times based on high-occupancy-vehicle lanes (carpool lanes).”

“Our goal is to bring a human-centred approach to technology in the vehicle, making it as easy as possible for people to integrate the tools that matter most to them,” said Don Butler, Ford executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services. “With the flexibility of our SYNC 3 software and AppLink, customers can easily use Waze to get all the traffic and navigation help they need – on a big screen and without having to fiddle around with their phones while driving.”

To deliver optimal driving directions and traffic updates, Waze uses crowd-sourcing to gather information about road conditions from all of its users. People simply type in their destination and drive with the app open to contribute data to Waze’s community of users. At the same time, people can take a more active role by sharing reports from the road, including notifying the community of previously unknown accidents, hazards or route changes.

“Since announcing the partnership between Waze and Ford at Mobile World Congress 2017, we’ve been working hard to optimise and evolve the experience for the driver community,” said Jens Baron, product lead for B2B and in-car applications at Waze. “We are happy to showcase our partnership with Ford through AppLink SDL on iOS – a seamless in-car navigation experience that connects Waze navigation to your car’s console. With SDL, Waze guidance is presented onto the driver’s in-car screen and new features are made available as soon as they are released. With SDL, drivers get the most updated version from Waze – with all the new features and design releases, the same as driving with Waze on your phone.”

At launch in the coming weeks, any 2018 model year Ford vehicle equipped with SYNC 3 version 3.0 or greater will be able to run Waze on its touch screen. Other SYNC 3-enabled Ford vehicles can receive an over-the-air update or an update via USB to enable Waze functionality.

Ford is also featuring its recently released Ford+Alexa app at CES. The app gives customers access to all 25,000 of Amazon’s Alexa skills, including the abilities to play music, check news reports and add items to shopping lists.

Ford partners with Qualcomm to build fully connected cars

Ford has announced a partnership with Qualcomm to develop "C-V2X" tech to connect cars to their surroundings. Short for Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything, the concept would allow vehicles to share information between themselves and city infrastructure.

    Constant connectivity
For now, C-V2X is largely a vision for what future connected vehicles could look like. CNBC reports Ford intends to equip "all" its cars with C-V2X eventually, but currently few of the ideas are sufficiently developed to make the broader project work. C-V2X will allow cars to communicate in real-time with vehicles, traffic lights, street signs and the roads themselves.
The partners are approaching the project as a way to transform transport by improving safety and efficiency. A car equipped with C-V2X could automatically avoid accidents and traffic jams, react to changes in its environment and share its intentions with nearby vehicles. Everything connects using a cloud-based smart platform which will network city infrastructure with roads and vehicles.

The Cruise AV’s automated systems are reliant on data provided by detailed high-definition maps, and the vehicles will be geofenced to routes that have been appropriately mapped. Although GM didn’t reveal the scope and scale of its map data, it’s likely the initial batch of Cruise AVs will be limited to the San Francisco and Phoenix areas—the two cities where GM has tested the vehicle

Nissan gaat met Qualcomm aan de slag in Japan..........het zou nog steeds TT kunnen zijn die uiteindelijk de HD-maps gaat leveren........ondanks dat Continental hier wordt genoemd

    www.geospatialworld.net/news/tomtom-p...

US: TomTom has announced that it is extending its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to demonstrate new localization technologies for autonomous driving. Specifically, fusing the TomTom HD (high definition) Map, with camera technologies and GPS data from the Qualcomm® Drive Data Platform, to power highly precise and reliable localization for connected car applications and autonomous vehicles.

The TomTom HD Map is a digital map product aimed at making automated vehicles safer and more comfortable by complementing sensors, powering accurate localization and enabling path planning. TomTom’s HD Map already covers the USA, Western Europe and Japan with over 380,000 km of highways and interstates mapped.

The Qualcomm Drive Data Platform offers cutting-edge technology to intelligently collect and analyze vehicle sensor data to facilitate vehicles that can determine location, learn driving patterns, perceive its surroundings while sharing this information with the rest of the world accurately. It features Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) solutions from Qualcomm Technologies and is coupled with sensor integration and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) techniques to achieve sub-meter global accuracy

A group of automotive, telecoms and tech companies announced plans to conduct the first field trials of cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technology in Japan to demonstrate the enhanced range, reliability and latency of direct communications using the 5GHz band.

    www.mobileworldlive.com/featured-cont...
In a joint statement, the six companies – Continental, Ericsson, Nissan, NTT Docomo, OKI and Qualcomm – said the objective is to validate the benefits of C-V2X using direct communication technology defined by 3GPP in its Release 14 specifications. The trials are also designed to show the complementary benefits of network-based communications using LTE-Advanced.

For the trials, Continental will use Qualcomm’s C-V2X reference design, which features its 9150 C-V2X chipset with integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) capability, to build connected car systems and integrate them into Nissan vehicles.

    Improved safety
Nakul Duggal, VP of product management at Qualcomm, said C-V2X, with its direct communications capabilities, is expected to be an important factor in enhancing safety and driver assistance.

“This Japan trial is a milestone in the global deployment of C-V2X technology which is expected to be featured in production vehicles by 2020,” he said
